Located near the capitol and not far from Reno or Lake Tahoe, Gardnerville offers endless possibilities. In particular, the Sierra Nevada Mountains offer some of the best outdoor activities in all of America.

Climbing

With hundreds of routes less than 30 minutes from Kingsbury Estates at Gardnerville, it would be a shame not to move to the area. Imagine not having to wake up at the crack of dawn to beat the California heat. Only having to drive for half an hour to climb some of Tahoe’s greatest routes provides more time for adventures and less time guzzling gas.

Hunting

Nevada offers a wide variety of wild game. From Rocky Mountain Elk, turkeys and black bears, there is a plethora of different species to hunt. 

Nevada offers year-round hunting classes for all. Those interested in taking classes can pick up a workbook from any Nevada’s Department of Wildlife office or complete the online courses. Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult, but there is no age requirement.

Horse-Back Riding

What better way to take in the beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains than horseback riding? With several horse companies in Gardnerville, there are many options to pursue the love of horses. 

Sheridan Creek Equestrian Center offers boarding, teaching programs, and trail rides. With several top-tier trainers, they will help you hone in on your skills for Dressage and/or Western riding.

Healing Hands Horsemanship Inc. is a non-profit organization that specializes in horse rescue and rehabilitation programs. With the help of volunteers, owner Gina Hery is able to retrain and rehome horses. She offers memberships and classes to teach kids and adults how to care for horses. 

Parks

There are a number of parks in the Gardnerville area. Of the numerous parks, two stand out in particular to the community.

Heritage Park Gardens

Gardnerville is the only Main Street American accredited program in all of Nevada. Main Street is “A network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities, rural and urban, who share both a commitment to place and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.”  

Part of the Main Street program entails a committee that created Heritage Park Gardens. One program, in particular, that is integrated into the park is the Plant Your Own Garden program. It allows for families to test their own gardens in a community setting. Some of the food that is grown within the garden is then donated to the local food bank.

Lampe Park

Less than two miles from the Kingsbury Estates community lies Lampe Park. Home to the largest playground structure in Northern Nevada, the kids will never want to leave. With fun for the whole family, Lampe Park has many different facilities, here is a list in detail:
