Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Senior Purchasing Agent will work collaboratively with the Purchasing Manager and team to ensure in securing the best value at a fair and reasonable cost for vertical construction.  This role will be responsible for project budgets; tracking, updating, and reporting, contract negotiation, contract management, and trade management. Duties will include but are not limited to reviewing blueprints to determine scopes of work.  Solicits subcontractors’ bids; analyzes bids and selects the top candidates; negotiate pricing; collects, reviews, and processes contractual paperwork; resolves subcontractor issues; creates spreadsheets for budgets; seeks out cost savings through value engineering; and sources and pre-qualifies new subcontractors.

3. Resolves subcontractor issues, such as delay in product delivery, contract accuracy, PO accuracy in Build Pro, change in specifications, or other modifications.

4. Seeks out cost savings through value engineering—evaluates other products that provide the same quality at reduced prices and inputs information into spreadsheet.

5. Creates Excel spreadsheets for budgeting purposes. Input updates to budgets.

6. Sources and pre-qualify new subcontractors.

Minimum Education and/or Experience

High School (GED) with:

  • 5+ Years’ Experience as a Purchasing Agent in Homebuilding
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and track several activities and projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work effectively to meet or beat deadlines to successfully deliver projects

Supervisory Responsibilities

Some supervisory duties will be held to help develop team and department or to back up department manager as requested.
